Importance of Regular Oil Change

If you’re thinking about skipping an oil change, don’t. Your vehicle will not be kind to you if you’re not kind to it. Taking care of your car by maintaining a routinely oil change is essential. Without it, you might as well set the car on fire! Here are why oil changes are crucial to your vehicle’s lifespan…

After a fresh oil change, you can feel the difference in the engine’s performance. The moving parts in an engine cause friction which produces heat and the oil helps to lubricate the engine, reducing the heat. An oil change also assists in clearing dirt and debris. A properly lubricated and clean engine results in better engine performance.

Gas prices are constantly going up and hardly coming back down. No matter how much gas costs, it doesn’t change what kind of mileage your vehicle gets… that’s all up to you. Regular oil changes lead to better gas mileage. A dirty engine with old oil causes more friction and more visits to the gas pump.

Keep your car, truck, or SUV for as long as you can by getting the oil changed when it is due. The newer vehicles typically warn you but on the older ones, you may just have to mark it in your calendar. For any questions or to schedule an oil change, West Valley Tires is here to help! 623-386-6974

Having The Right Tire for Your Off-Road Vehicle

An ATV is a fun and exciting off-road vehicle that you, your family, and friends can enjoy on a nice Saturday. The weather is perfect and everyone is having a good time. To keep that good vibe going, you want to make sure that you’ve got the tires to handle all the different types of terrain. Having the right kind of tires on your quad is essential for the terrain they take on and your safety. Without having the right tires, you could cause damage to the vehicle or yourself. So when buying new tires for your off-road vehicle, pay attention to these things…

  • Tread Pattern: Quads and other ATV vehicles, have various tread patterns depending on the type of terrain. Tires with deeper tread for example, are for muddy and rocky areas.
  • Tire Construction (Bias-ply or Radial): Bias-ply tires are created by ply cords crisscrossing diagonally bead to bead internally. Radial tires are created by ply cords that are parallel to one another spanning bead to bead at a 90 degree angle directly to the center. These tires are commonly more expensive but have a longer lifespan.
  • Tire Size: Yes, size does matter! If you replace your tires with bigger ones, it can damage the drivetrain and suspensions. Stick to the same size and if you find it necessary to size up, keep it within 1-2 sizes bigger, no more than that.

When you’re ready to replace the tires on your ATV, remember these bullet points.

Tips To Stay Hydrated

Our service technician’s work hard in higher temperatures to take care of our customers. The heat takes a toll on their body and they can become dehydrated. Every summer, we like to touch on the importance of keeping hydrated.  We’d like to share with our customers and fellow technicians the seriousness of keeping hydrated.

Ways To Stay Hydrated:

1.) Consume Water: Drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Don’t wait till your thirsty and always have a water bottle nearby. I know most of us like to sip on a cold beer by the pool but make sure you’re drinking water too!

2.) Fruits & Veggies: Fruits and vegetables have the water, nutrients, fiber and potassium to keep us hydrated. Cut a cucumber and get some hummus for your healthy, hydrating pool side snack!

3.) Create a Habit: Make drinking water a habit by associating it with other things. Drink water before and after a meal. Drink water before bed and when you wake up in the morning. It’ll soon become natural to you.

Take care of and pay attention to your body. Stay hydrated!

Tires Looking Worn Out?

Don’t be that guy on the side of the freeway with a blown out tire. One, it’s dangerous for you and other drivers. Two, who wants to deal with waiting for a tow truck or having to put the spare tire on?

The next time you get in your vehicle, take a peak at your tires to see where the tread is at.
